PREMIER MIXED VOCAL ENSEMBLE

The Academy Singers performance group is Brentwood Academy’s premier mixed vocal ensemble. This auditioned group features 12-16 talented students who expand their knowledge of music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and the use of their vocal instrument, including proper tone, breath control, posture, blending, and diction.

The group's primary focus is on advanced a cappella music, often featuring eight or more parts. In addition to live shows, The Academy Singers produce an annual CD that is highly anticipated.

Auditions are held in the spring.

MEET THE FACULTY

DAVID WISE


DAVID WISE

David Wise is a 25-year recording studio veteran. As a resident of Nashville, TN for over 10 years, David has spent most of his time in the recording studio. David began his career as a session singer and vocal arranger, having sung on projects for Celine Dion, OneRepublic, Steve Green, Blake Shelton, Lady A, Dolly Parton, and numerous other artists. At the start of his career, David worked for The Walt Disney Company, singing with the Voices of Liberty and in the studio on thousands of recordings over the years. David is even featured on the longest-running fireworks show at Magic Kingdom, “Wishes”!

Over the past 10 years, David has had arrangements published with Word Music, Brentwood Benson, Lifeway, and JW Pepper. He has produced music for SeaWorld, Hershey Park, MSC Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Azamara Cruise Lines, The Nashville Christmas Parade, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and many more.

Currently, David and his writing partner, Jeremy Johnson, are in the process of mounting their originally written Broadway-style musical, “Esther: The Heart of a Queen,” with hopes of Broadway in the future. Mr. Wise and Mr. Johnson won the Paris Film Festival Award for Best Original Song “Something to Say” from the independent film Into the Spotlight.

David is married to Heather, and they have four children: Hannah, Taylor, Dawson, and Autumn. David truly loves BA and is so grateful to work with the amazing Academy Singers!
