Brentwood Academy - Sarah Pleasant

Senior Sarah Pleasant is the epitome of a student, leader and athlete on the Brentwood Academy campus.

"Sarah is an absolute joy to be around," said Shelley Miller, Brentwood Academy director of college counseling. "She is articulate, engaging, thoughtful, intelligent and a natural born leader. She continually meets and exceeds the challenges set before her, and she is extremely well-loved and respected in our community."

Pleasant is a member of the Academy Dancers, a competition dance team that has won the state championship for the past three years. She is also a member of the Student Leadership Team and serves on the FCA Organizing team.

Outside of school, she is active in the youth group in her church, Strong Tower Bible Church. She works part-time as a nanny or babysitter.

Pleasant has won the Harvard Book Award and the Honors Literature Award. She is a member of the National Honors Society, Duke TIP and the National Society of High School Scholars. She even consistently earns a spot on the Headmaster's List at BA.

She is passionate about medicine.

"To love medicine is to love the very essence of human existence," she said. "My passion drives me to one day be able to contribute to the future of medicine."

Pleasant looks to her parents, Reggie and Jessica Pleasant, as her role models.

"They have been commissioned as full-time missionaries for 16 years and have dedicated their lives to serving others," she said. "By their example, they've shown me what it looks like to consider others' needs above their own. Their faith, leadership and joy are inspiring."

Her favorite class is AP Biology.

"It literally blows my mind to see the complexity and intricate design of what we often ignore in everyday life," she said. "From the colors of leaves, to the majestic build of a horse, to just the way our heart beats will never be anything less than amazing to me."

Pleasant is currently deciding on her college choice. She plans to major in Human Physiology or Biology, followed by medical school.

Her parents are Reggie and Jessica Pleasant. She has an older brother.
