Community Education at BA
Brentwood Academy's Engage series is a community education program that features speakers from around our area and across the country. Our purpose is to offer meaningful conversation on issues relevant to our culture and community, especially those affecting our children.
Engage is for everyone and offered at no cost to the community. Our hope is to bring together people of all ages, cultures, and demographics so that we can learn from one another while hearing from experts in their areas of interest.
Entrepreneurship & Business 101
For High School Students who are Change-makers, Innovators and Leaders
November 17 | 9:00 -11:00 AM | BA Fine Arts Lobby | FREE & Open to the Public
Brentwood Academy is excited to partner with Belmont University for a unique opportunity to participate in a morning seminar centered on innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship. This is for high school students with a passion for entrepreneurship, a desire to put ideas and talents to creating good in the world, or a goal to start a business; this class will cover the basic fundamental business skills needed.
Students will learn from Dr. John Gonas, a Jack C. Massey College of Business Associate Professor of Finance and advisor to the Belmont Enactus Team - that helps area non-profits conceive, develop, and implement social enterprise. Dr. Gonas has mentored several successful Belmont Alumni entrepreneurs here in Nashville. Teaching alongside Dr. Gonas is Brennon Mobley, a Nashville entrepreneur success story and founder of Three-one-Three, a membership based coworking office space. Brennon is also an alum of the Jack C. Massey College of Business and Entrepreneurship Program.
Through interactive conversation, Dr. Gonas and Brennon will walk students through key components of a business plan, including:
- Finance and Accounting
- Challenges and failures
- What to look for in choosing a university
- Overview of entrepreneurial and social entrepreneurial curricula
- List of resources in Nashville that will help take your vision to a business plan
