Growth Begins by
Knowing Truth

Brentwood Academy believes that true intellectual growth begins with knowing Truth and that spiritual growth is fundamental to the broader development of each member of the BA family.

In addition to the programs and classes available, spiritual life at Brentwood Academy involves the classroom, the playing field, the band room, and the hallways. We believe that everything is spiritual, and that Jesus Christ gives everything purpose. Every faculty and staff member has a personal, and growing relationship with Christ. While the religious beliefs of each individual student will be respected, the school will continuously teach Biblical truths and values.

Retreats

Be still, and know that I am God. - Psalm 46:10

Retreats allow students the opportunity to grow closer to God and to their fellow students. Two Upper School retreats are held each year (fall and spring), and one Middle School retreat (winter). Retreats are optional and free of charge.

  • September 17, 2016—Upper School Retreat
  • January 7, 2017—Middle School Retreat
  • April 13, 2017—Upper School Retreat

Senior Theme Verse Retreat

Each summer before the start of school, the senior class takes a retreat to prepare for the upcoming year. While away, the group makes two decisions for the entire student body that are important aspects of life at BA. They choose the theme verse for the upcoming school year, and they choose the school service project for the year.

2016-2017 Theme Verse—Ephesians 4:1-3

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.

Theme Verse History (1990-2016)

2016-17 Theme Verse

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.  Ephesians 4:1-3

Each summer, seniors gather at a weekend retreat to choose the school's theme verse for the upcoming school year. The verse is memorized by all students and faculty and serves as a touchstone for the year.

2016-17 Service Project

The Red Wagon Project is a collaborative effort between teens in the community and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt to provide extra support items for Children’s Hospital patients and their families during their hospital stay.

Seniors choose the service project each year for the student body. The Class of 2017 chose Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research and will lead the school in hosting events and activities to help raise funds throughout the year.

Daily Scripture Study

Daily scripture reading begins first block of each school day.

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God. We believe there is no practice more important than filling and saturating our minds with the truth of God’s Word. Our goal is that we will become doers of the Word and not hearers only.
